VDR 1.7.6 wird voraussichtlich am Donnerstag bearbeitet werden. Es wird derzeit an anderen Erweiterungen gearbeitet welche voraussichtlich erst am Donnerstag abgeschlossen werden und am Freitag freigegeben werden. In der Zwischenzeit sollte jedoch VDR 1.6.0 (stable) keinerlei Probleme bereiten.

Do you have any other application accessing the DVB Device? For example vdr or mythtv-backend in the background?

$ sudo /etc/init.d/vdr stop
$ sudo /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend stop
$ ps fax | grep -i vdr
$ ps fax | grep -i myth

if one of them is running stop them before using kaffeine or mplayer

Are you using the 091009 drivers?

How about the signal strength? (you can open the channel scan tab in kaffeine again and it will show up the signal strength for the currently tuned channel)

We received a similar report from another user, claiming that when VDR was running in the background the video stops with Kaffeine. But this has been the nature of VDR and is out of our scope. That for it has to be stopped or the device has to be plugged in after VDR got loaded.

Especially Ubuntu has been tested for weeks(!) on Netbooks now

We will check it again and put up a codec package for it lateron. Our primary target at the beginning has been Linux.
We received some suggestions from some customers and expect to finish those requests till 16th October 09. After this is done we will focus on Windows and Mac again.

Your problem is mainly a codec Problem, that for sure.

According to the Windows Driver Engineers this is a codec issue, you might try to install a Codec Package (eg. following free codec package):

Our DVB API was a little bit out of sync with the official DVB API, it's now up to date and the version retrieval is now also supported. We added the update to 091009, you might download and install the driver again and it will work.

Wir werden dies ebenfalls umgehend prüfen, die Änderungen vom 3. Oktober aufwärts waren für Kaffeine notwendig.

Do you know an exact way how to reproduce this after a clean installation?

Maybe can you run tvheadend with "gdb" and trace where it tries to open the files, it was not reproducible just by running tvheadend and capturing some shows here.
