Re:Sundtek Synology Treiber Paket FAQ
« Antwort #15 am: Dezember 01, 2014, 10:58:09 Nachmittag »
Hallo,

I wish you all a happy and prosperous 2015!
As to the operation of Sundtek's (perfect) USB-tuners in combination with Synology servers a final solution of the hibernation problem is still on my wish list.

After reading your earlier comments, i learned that the hard disk in your own system comes out of hinerbation quite rarely.
Unfortunately this is not the case within my own Synology-NAS.

Hard disk awakes many times a day "out of the blue" and interrupts your driver which causes short hickups.
My experience (regarding waking up issue) is confirmed by many users on the Synology forum.

Of course the workaround (hard disk always running) is effective but this is not an elegant solution at all.

Is it possible to handle this issue?

We have a Synology NAS in Berlin, I think we can add an option to spin up the harddisk once an application starts to use the tuner.

But we'll definitely only make this optional.

Hi,

yes we can do some tests from next week on (we're open from 5th January on again after Christmas and New Year vacation) and the NAS Systems are in our office.

Schedule is the next 1-2 weeks we're just back since today.
I think it can be added as an option into the Sundtek window (in the left top menu)

Harddisk spinup when accessing the DVB device so a spinup cannot interfere with the dvb stream lateron.

(harddisk) hibernation problem is getting worse every day so it seems.  (related to DSM 5.1 who knows?)
Do you think installation of a SSD will do the "trick" ?
Or are you about to introduce the workaround one of these days?

Thank you for your comments!

I guess the SSD should solve this issue but it's not a solution because not everyone will buy an SSD for a NAS.
According to our schedule it should be available around next week (we just have to finish some other things this week).

thanx for feedback!
I made some inquiries after a genuine Samsung SSD this afternoon and was absolutely flabbergasted of price level.
Let's try your solution first i would suggest.
