Unstable - works only for 1-2 days
« am: August 18, 2010, 08:54:30 Nachmittag »
Hi,
I have big problems with my MediaTV dongle.
I use it with TVHeadEnd 2.11 (DVB-C) and it works only for maximum 3 days, after that I get errors like this and picture is very bad.

How can I debug this?

Also it would be nice if the log wasn't spammed with:

Even if everything is ok, it fills my root disk in a week. Please make it possible to log only warnings and errors.

What driver are you using?

did you try http://www.sundtek.de/media/sundtek_installer_development.sh ?
The latest version should have some better recovery support.

The root cause of this can be that something in the system went on heavy load (maybe IO).

/opt/bin/mediaclient --loglevel=off can disable logging if you want to let it run day and night you should use this option
Failure is a good thing! I'll fix it

The development version seems much more stable, it's been running for 2 days now.
Can somehow get it to always start with loglevel=off? As it is now I need to do it manually after each reboot (which I now might not need :) )

we put this feature request onto our development list. We've been working on too many features since the last official driver got released. Although we hope to move the current development driver to a stable release very soon. Just a few days ago we received a firmware update from a chip manufacturer so we have to upgrade our driver again. After this we probably move the entire version to stable.

Development driver up and running for 10 days now, thanks :)
It still would be useful if there was a loglevel for logging only warnings.

Any plan to upgrade the windows driver with the new firmware, or is it not necessary for windows?? And any update on the OSX development??

Regards,

The windows driver will be updated when we're going to release the new DVB-S/S2 devices - which should be at the end of September.

OSX .. different topic and will be answered when it's ready, at least all the linux work nowadays also influences the OSX driver...
