Sundtek Support Forum

I own a Sundtek Gold TV Tuner, I am currently using it with tvheadend on a Synology DS412+ with great results, the only problem is that it get really really hot, as tvheadend is always polling for EPG updates, the device has no option to go into standby. I am thinking that maybe that so much heat is going to damage the sundtek, so I was planning to add some kind of disipator, maybe some big mosfet or similar dissipator would be enough, would be any problem if I open the device to add the dissipator? is there anything soldered to the plastic casing that will break when opening it?

Would it be possible to develop a plugin for VLC similar to ElGato EyeTV plugin? So we could use the really great VLC easily with your outstanding product?

I'm able to use the latest version VLC 2.0.3 using:

/opt/bin/mediaclient -m DVBT -f 770000000 -b 8
/opt/bin/mediaclient --cat /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 | /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC file:///dev/stdin

but it would nice if we were able to select the channel from inside VLC :-D

Hello, I'm having problems with mplayer since sundtek_installer_110207.2248.sh, mplayer stutters and blocks and inform me about my computer is not fast enough for playing that content, also the driver makes a kworker process high on CPU (about 5%). I've tried latest version (as of 2012/03/23) and I have the same problem.

Any idea?

Well, it seems that the english forum's are a bit out of date, I have bookmarked directly the Sundtek Pro Europe subforum, but today I take a look at the German version, and found this:

and although I was not able to make MPlayer working with it, it works really great with VLC. It seems that at the end we really DO HAVE a multiplatform DVB tuner. Great work, really, GREAT WORK!

In the last post of the linked forum you say that there is "mplayer build available on request"?? I cannot speak German, and I'm using google translate, so maybe it is just wishfull translation :-D If you have in fact that build available, I would be really happy to test it.

Well, it seems that we are getting support for Solaris sooner than for MacOSX, although when I bought the Gold version two years ago it was supposed to have MacOSX support in the works. In fact in the post

* Apple (Sundtek MediaTV Gold/will be released soon, mediaclient commands will work, although the Apple support comes with an extra Mac based installer and extra TV application)

One thing I've learned for sure, don't trust vendors, even the one coming from the open source world. I hope you keep improving your drivers (even Duke Nukem forever was finally released), but as others have stated before me, real open source is the only way. Good bye and regards.

 

What does iOS (on the iPad) have to do with OSX ?? I mean, I hope to get a driver/player to play locally in my MacBook Pro.
