MacOSX Installation

We've finally ported the driver and our Multimediastack to MacOSX, our software provides the full LinuxDVB and Video4Linux API on MacOSX.
Our driver can be used to watch DVB-T, DVB-C and DVB-S/S2 or listen to FM Radio with mplayer.
With some smaller mplayer modifications it should also be possible to receive Analog TV, S-Video and Composite.

This driver also provides support for Network streaming, it is possible to use MacOSX as a server for a Dreambox, VU+ or another Linux based system, Linux can also be used as a server for MacOSX. The device looks like if it would be attached locally even though it's connected to a remote host via the network.

Further details and download link will be released soon.

It's a little bit chaotic right now but we started to release Mac drivers, first only binary files, in a few days DMG files and more howtos.

http://www.sundtek.de/media/sundtek_driver_mac_110128.2133.tar.gz

(32bit release for now, 64bit and DMG is upcoming).

How to use mplayer or VLC with it will be documented soon.

We'll soon also release a Windows Link software to be able to use the tuner via network.

Please note most of the Linuxfeatures also work with MacOSX!

GREAT! It seems a bit basic right now, but waiting for the .dmg or some more info on how to make it running, both executables are working, although I have no idea on how to launch the mediasrv when the stick is plugged or what to preload in order for the players to work, but it looks that finally we are going to get the Gold version :-D

Thanks!

Our engineering is working on a player now, especially on a network client for Linux / Mac which can also be used with the iPad.

Our engineering just received an iPad for testing, we're fully working on MacOSX now.

A new driver will be available soon we decreased the CPU load by around 50% on OSX.

Within the next few versions streaming to iPad will be available.

What does iOS (on the iPad) have to do with OSX ?? I mean, I hope to get a driver/player to play locally in my MacBook Pro.

Well, it seems that we are getting support for Solaris sooner than for MacOSX, although when I bought the Gold version two years ago it was supposed to have MacOSX support in the works. In fact in the post

http://support.sundtek.de/index.php/topic,4.0.html

dating from [Juli 15, 2009, 10:49:38 am] you can read

* Apple (Sundtek MediaTV Gold/will be released soon, mediaclient commands will work, although the Apple support comes with an extra Mac based installer and extra TV application)

One thing I've learned for sure, don't trust vendors, even the one coming from the open source world. I hope you keep improving your drivers (even Duke Nukem forever was finally released), but as others have stated before me, real open source is the only way. Good bye and regards.

We follow a certain strategy, we deliver a driver which provides the same interface on all operating systems. Meaning basically mplayer or other Applications can be used with it just about everywhere.

Additional on that we're working on our player for OSX, and yes we are late but it will come up within the next few months.
Just because we haven't released another driver for OSX does not mean we aren't working on it. The next update will just be available with a DMG image and the latest changes which are also available for all other systems.

How is the strategy going? 4 months since that post ... really funny

Well, it seems that the english forum's are a bit out of date, I have bookmarked directly the Sundtek Pro Europe subforum, but today I take a look at the German version, and found this:

http://support.sundtek.com/index.php/topic,544.0.html

and although I was not able to make MPlayer working with it, it works really great with VLC. It seems that at the end we really DO HAVE a multiplatform DVB tuner. Great work, really, GREAT WORK!

In the last post of the linked forum you say that there is "mplayer build available on request"?? I cannot speak German, and I'm using google translate, so maybe it is just wishfull translation :-D If you have in fact that build available, I would be really happy to test it.

Finally it has been a looong time, but the wait is over, BIG THANKS!

We are currently focusing on streaming from Linux/Mac to Windows, Mac, iPad and so on. More interesting things should come up within the next few weeks. Those things should be set before Christmas hopefully.

Dear Sundtek-Support,

We are currently focusing on streaming from Linux/Mac to Windows, Mac, iPad and so on. More interesting things should come up within the next few weeks. Those things should be set before Christmas hopefully.

Ok, this post was almost three years ago and soon it'll be Christmas again. Where is the working Mac-Driver? I used the latest driver and followed all of your "instructions" but I'm not able to open any device (DVB, Radio, Composite) in VLC. I wanted to use my Sundtek MediaTV Pro III (DVB-C/T/T2, FM-Radio, AnalogTV) to digitalize some old tapes (VHS). I don't talk about iMovie yet.

Can you please write a short and simple HowTo for each use case (DVB-X, AnalogTV, Radio, SVideo, Composite) on the Mac, using original apple applications (iMove) or VLC? Or can please post the full terminal calls for VLC with the needed command line parameters for each use case?

With kind regards,
Michael

PS Here is my system setup:
Driver sundtek_driver_macosx_141009.1736.dmg
MacOS 10.9.4 (will be 10.10.x soon)
VLC 2.1.5 (64bit)
iMovie 10.0.5 [edit: added version number]

PPS Is there a possibility to receive some radio stations with this receiver in DVB-T-Mode on a Dreambox DM800SEv1?
PPPS I am happy with this receiver working in dual tuner mode on my Dreambox.

We are working on the MacOSX support.

XBMC needs a glue between the driver and XBMC so we are working on the "glue" part.

The next MacOSX driver update will add remote control support for XBMC on MacOSX.

Dear Sundtek Support Team,

thank you for your answer.

The next MacOSX driver update will add remote control support for XBMC on MacOSX.

I didn't asked anything about XBMC. I need a driver for Mac OS that integrates the sundtek device like a webcam or camcorder. In this way it'll be possible to use iMove to record the stream or to show it in VLC.

With kind regards

udated system setup:
Mac OS 10.10.1
iMovie 10.0.6

We did some investigation in that area it seems to be possible to add a CoreMediaIO interface to our driver. It's on the table of our engineer for December.
